Born in Germany in 1942, Peter Keil enjoyed wide acclaim for nearly half a century.  Separated by his original mentor, Otto Nagel, by the building of the Berlin Wall, Keil developed his energetic and expressive style in study with numerous other artists including Joan Miro.  His works are displayed in museums around the world and his portraits of people as far ranging as Pablo Picasso to Mick Jagger have brought him fame throughout the art world.  

Music at Midnight, a large and dynamic piece displays the textual and stylistic elements that are a hallmark of Keil’s work.  An apparent homage to fellow Berliner, Marlene Dietrich, Music at Midnight bears claim as a definite work, possibly the masterpiece of Keil’s career.
